Safety First

These are essential safety points to remember.  Read through the whole list.  You need to know all these things to be able to use essential oils safely.

Choosing Oils

There's no need to use essential oils on children unless a health condition requires it.  Don't use essential oils as a preventative, in the medical sense, unless in antiviral or antibacterial room sprays and diffusers or burners.
Essential oils for home care health purposes should be used for a maximum of ten days at a time.  Let fourteen days elapse between uses, unless directed by a qualified practioner.
Only  use essential oils recommend for children.
Essential oils should only be used in the context in which they are indicated and recommended by a professional.

Blends

Make sure all the equipment you use is sterile and thoroughly dried. To sterilize boil the equipment or use baby sterile solution.  If you leave any amount of water the blend will deteriorate and turn cloudy.  Label the bottle with the name of the person it was prepared for, the complete list of ingredients, and the date it was prepared.

Storage

Use glass bottles only.
Store well out of reach of children.
Store blends in a dark, dry space, away from any source of heat.
